Reflectoquant® HMF quick test from Merck: Simple and reliable in-process monitoring
Food and beverage producers benefit
Whether it's honey or juice, the hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) content is an important quality criterion in many thermally-treated foods and drinks. Now there's good news for laboratories and production facilities: Using the innovative Reflectoquant® quick test from Merck, the HMF value can be defined for in-process monitoring – the test is reliable, user-friendly and good value.

Reflectoquant® – a mobile laboratory with low costs
The Reflectoquant® HMF quick test from Merck has established itself as a mobile laboratory with low costs per sample. It uses quantitative analyses to support producers in monitoring not only raw materials, but also manufacturing and filling processes: Reflectoquant® delivers results which are accurate enough to allow secure planning of whether and how food and drinks should be further processed.
HMF value: indicator for freshness and storage period
The HMF value is an indicator of the freshness and storage period of a product, among other things. Until now, the substance had to be detected in comparatively time-consuming laboratory tests using the HPLC process or the photometric Winkler method. In contrast, the Reflectoquant® HMF quick test only takes a few minutes: a testing strip is dipped into the prepared sample on site and then measured in the RQflex reflectometer. The preparation of samples for honey and colored juices is described in special working guidelines which can be called up on the product page under Applications.
